MEDIATOR, DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY

Served as a mediator for the Department of Labor and Industry from 1997 to 2004 assisting parties to resolve issues and settle claims in the statutory system. Spoke on the use of the state’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) system at Insurance Adjuster Trainings, Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant Trainings and Continuing Legal Education seminars. Presented on the use of mediation in the Minnesota workers’ compensation system at the 1998 IAIABC Convention held in Missouri.


DISPUTE RESOLUTION FACILITATOR, UCWCP

Served as the Dispute Resolution Facilitator for the Union Construction Workers’ Compensation Program (UCWCP) from 2005 to 2019 assisting parties to resolve issues and settle claims in the unionized construction industry under this unique jurisdiction created by Minnesota Statute. Spoke on the use of the various ADR components of the UCWCP to participating unions, contractors, union employees, sponsoring organizations, insurers, agencies, and its Exclusive Rehabilitation Provider Network. Assisted with amending the UCWCP Rules and Regulations regarding the program’s jurisdiction and ADR procedures. Spoke at several Continuing Legal Education seminars about the UCWCP’s ADR system. Assisted in writing the portion of Chapter 20, Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Deskbook, on the topic of the UCWCP.
